The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. websites is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. click the following web page does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
